Boxscore of Bobcats vs 76ers - 11/18/2009
Score: 86-84 Philadelphia
Bobcats Record: 3-8
Offensive Efficiency: 95.5
Defensive Efficiency: 95.6
Meritorious Player: Gerald Wallace? No great candidates tonight - Gerald finished with 11 points on 3 of 7 from the floor, 4 of 6 from the line, and added 12 rebounds, 3 steals, a block, an assist, and 4 turnovers to that. 4 turnovers, Gerald? When you managed just 1 assist and only 10 field goal attempts + possessions that ended in free throws (I might need to come up with an acronym for that)? Your double-double from the small-forward spot tipped the scale in your favor, but Come on!

19 turnovers in just 88 possessions for the Bobcats? Come on! Besides Gerald's sloppiness, Raymond Felton lost the ball 3 times in 17 possessions used, and Flip had 3 turns in just 16 possessions. Stephen Jackson matched Gerald for the team lead with 4, but he also used 34 possessions, so it is at least a respectable mark.

1 of 7 for Flip Murray from 3 - Come on! To his credit, several of those were taken as the shot clock wound down. Overall, the Bobcats hit just 7 of 24 threes, 29.2%, to continue their early season long-range struggles.

7 points, 4 rebounds, 15 minutes for Tyson Chandler - Tyson has one of his better outings of the young season going, with just 1 foul to his credit, and back spasms force him from the game. Come on! (not directed at Tyson, just at the Bobcats poor luck with injuries in general)

2 players in double figures for the Bobcats, led by Stephen Jackson with 26 on 9 of 21 from the floor, 6 of 8 on freebies, and followed by Gerald's 11. However, considering the slow pace the Bobcats play, the 9 points both Flip Murray and Raymond Felton had would have been 10 on a faster team - so a pace-adjusted 4 players in double figures for the Bobcats?

7:03, 5:44 minutes for Derrick Brown and Gerald Henderson respectively. Nice to see the rookies get a bit of time, though neither did anything statistically unusual.

6 and 4 for D.J. Augustin in 20 minutes - took him 6 field goal attempts to get the 6 points, but at least he was a little more aggressive tonight.

5 rebounds for the Bobcats starting power forward in 38 minutes - Boris Diaw, seriously, a little more effort on the glass. The Bobcats still won the battle of the boards without the French getting combative, 41-38. Big ups to Gerald and his 12 collected caroms, and also to Nazr Mohammed who had 6 in just 10 minutes.

Gso Cats Fan Says: These past two games are microcosm of why Flip Murray has bounced around the league so much. He almost single-handedly kept Charlotte in the Orlando game, but last night, he struggled to hit his shot.

I don't think his inconsistency is due to any lack of effort - he's just a classic "streak shooter." But it can be mighty frustrating for a fan.

Brett Says: Gso - I agree about Flip - he serves a distinct purpose for a team, offense off the bench. Unlike some teams, the Bobcats don't have the depth right now to just play him when he's hot - they can't say, oh, he missed his first 4, someone else can do it tonight. They are stuck with him shooting them in and out of games. What interested me was Felton getting pulled for Flip with the game on the line. Ray had been Larry's guy in those spots last season, by default, I guess, but he appears to have lost that designation.
