3rd in a series of 5 posts, this is going to provide some early season numbers showing how the Bobcats stack up, position by position. I have provided two spreadsheets for each position - one shows each Bobcat who played minutes at a given position and their stats at that position and the second shows the level of production each team in the league is getting at each position. All counting stats (points, assists, etc...) are shown per 100 team possessions - the exceptions are rebounding: I used offensive and defensive rebound rate rather than rebounding averages. Personal choice - I just feel it is more useful (though you could probably make a case for other fields as well).

First thing I noticed when looking at the Charlotte Bobcats production from the 3: Fouls drawn. The Bobcats are drawing 7.2 fouls per 100 team possessions from the small forward, good for second in the league, trailing only Carmelo Anthony and Denver (for the slow ones in the class, that means they are ahead of Cleveland and the LeBrons). And it is not just Gerald Wallace doing the damage (though he is certainly doing his part here, 7.7, and on the rebounds), but all the players who have seen significant minutes: Gerald Henderson, Gerald Wallace, Stephen Jackson, and Stephen Graham are all at 6.3 fouls drawn per 100 possessions or better, compared to a league average of 4.3. Larry Brown's mantra of playing the right way is certainly leading to plenty of trips to the foul line - the Bobcats need to bump their cumulative ft% up though to take greater advantage, as the 3s are currently shooting just 73.3% on free throws compared to league average of 76.6%.
