New Orleans Hornets 75 Final
Recap | Box Score
67 Charlotte Bobcats
Derrick Brown, F 34 MIN | 3-10 FG | 1-1 FT | 6 REB | 3 AST | 7 PTS | -3

Bad shooting night. Didn’t play much of a role in the Hendo ISO heavy offense.

Byron Mullens, C 24 MIN | 2-7 FG | 0-0 FT | 10 REB | 1 AST | 4 PTS | -9

Scouting report is out on Mullens. Teams aren’t allowing him to pop off of pick-and-pop plays freely anymore and Mullens is being forced to drive to the basket or create space to get a shot off. 10 boards is nice.

Bismack Biyombo, C 36 MIN | 0-1 FG | 5-10 FT | 9 REB | 0 AST | 5 PTS | +11

Biyombo needs to touch the ball more in the half court. He’s not a very good passer at this point, but it could add to his improvement and it would at least force defensive attention somewhere other than Gerald Henderson.

Gerald Henderson, G 35 MIN | 9-19 FG | 9-11 FT | 4 REB | 2 AST | 27 PTS | +2

Hendo was just average from the field, but he was extremely efficient in getting to the foul line tonight. Aggressively attacking the basket earned him a lot of free shots and you love to see this in Henderson’s offensive game.

Kemba Walker, PG 41 MIN | 6-16 FG | 1-2 FT | 5 REB | 3 AST | 14 PTS | +4

Kemba wasn’t great from the field and he didn’t do a good job of getting the offense into any type of flow tonight. It’s very understandable that this team isn’t full of playmakers, but Kemba must continue to improve his ability to quarterback his teammates on the offensive end. A lot of standing around leads to a lot of Kemba/Hendo ISO and the biggest problem is that he’ll welcome ISO situations- exactly what he excelled with at UConn. ISO for Kemba isn’t going to accelerate his maturation in this league in any way possible, so the quicker he grows away from that, the better.

Jamario Moon, SF 14 MIN | 0-3 FG | 0-0 FT | 1 REB | 0 AST | 0 PTS | -5

Not to put the guy down so quickly, but have any of his shot attempts not been an airball so far?

Tyrus Thomas, PF 21 MIN | 3-10 FG | 1-2 FT | 6 REB | 1 AST | 7 PTS | -2

Played hard in spurts tonight, so that was encouraging. Tyrus badly needs to play for a coach that doesn’t give him free reign- he plays like a rookie on the court, like he’s learned nothing in the league.

One Thing We Saw

  1. I haven’t come out and said this yet, but I’m starting to believe that this team is really the worst in NBA history. Even if they do win one of their final 6 games, which seems unlikely, and avoid the all-time low winning percentage in NBA history, it’s hard to imagine a team once existed that was worse than this.
