This is a big game for Charlotte as their schedule hits the road for three of the next four. But this is big most importantly because a win against Denver basically makes up for the New Jersey loss, and even though this is still just a 8-11 team these Bobcats have shown the ability to play giant killers at home before (see Cavs, Cleveland).
Denver won't be an easy challenge however, Carmelo Anthony always likes to play well here since he's part of Jordan's Brand and MJ often shows up to see him play. Anthony is currently the league's leading scorer at just under 30 point per game and he's coming off a rough 14 point night in Philly. He'll likely bounce-back and if he really has it going Melo could not only foul out Gerald Wallace but hang a 40 spot on these Bobcats despite there strong defense, he's that good. Even with a strong night from Anthony offensively I don't expect Chauncey Billups to score 31 points like he did against the 76ers so these things will balance out.
The Nuggets have won four straight and are playing well but this is their third straight road game and will be the tail end of a back-to-back so there's a chance for a let down here. Charlotte has to attack early and possibly get Anthony on the bench in the first quarter with a couple of quick fouls, building a big enough cushion that will be able to withstand a Denver second half run. A double digit lead should be enough to take their best punch as long as the defense stays sound and makes Carmelo work for everything. Sounds simple enough when you type it out but it won't be that easy.
It would be nice to see Boris Diaw knock down some shots again and a 20 point game from Stephen Jackson would help. Also here's hoping Raymond Felton continues his strong play and there maybe a cameo from DJ Augustin as Larry Brown tries to find someone to stay with Ty Lawson.
It should be a solid crowd with Anthony in town so a win could win over a few more Bobcat fans that may have turned away given the New Jersey loss. Should be a fun game with Denver trying to push the pace and hovering around average defensively this season Charlotte should be able to score well enough to please the home crowd. We'll be there watching and then recapping later tonight.
