Bobcats win by 1 and stay alive…..again

The more that you watch the Bobcats (32-42) the more you really wonder how much  longer this team can keep it up; winning games by the one possession that is. Three  of the four games that Charlotte has won in this current four game winning streak  have come by a total of 4 points so to say the Bobcats have been rather fortunate  lately is probably an understatement but the wins keep coming for now and that’s  the only factor this team is concerned with in the NBA which is without a doubt a  night-to-night league.

Defense has proved to be the saving grace for Charlotte in their past two wins at  home against Milwaukee and Cleveland. On Monday night the Bobcats held the  Bucks scoreless in the final 3:52 as Milwaukee missed their final 10 shots to send  Charlotte to the shocking comeback win. On Wednesday night the Cavaliers had  the ball down one with 13.2 seconds left and the Bobcats were able to apply  fantastic ball pressure and force Cleveland to use their final timeout with only 2.8  seconds left on the clock and after the timeout defensive specialist Dominic  McGuire was able to get his fingers on Anthony Parker’s last second floater to send Charlotte to yet another anxiety filled victory.

“You see the sweat on me?” said head coach Paul Silas in response to a question about how tough it has been to find a consistent lineup down the stretch of all these close games with the injuries Charlotte has taken on.

Stephen Jackson aggravated his hamstring injury once again last night as he was unable to play in the second half and it is becoming more and more uncertain how much he will be able to contribute in the final 8 games of the season. Jackson has been fighting through this injury for over a month and it simply does not seem to be improving at all. Shaun Livingston (bruised tailbone) and Tyrus Thomas (swelling in surgically repaired knee) also missed last night’s game and their timetable for a return is very uncertain as well.

Indiana won again last night at home against Detroit and remain one game clear of the Bobcats, they will face Milwaukee at home on Friday as Charlotte will travel to Orlando.

All of the cards seem to be stacked against the Bobcats as injuries continue to pile up at the worst possible time in the season but the wins keep coming and for now Charlotte can continue to contend for the final playoff spot in the east. Taking it “one game at a time” will have to be the attitude this team takes on for the remaining 8 games and hope that their recent luck continues but for one more night Charlotte can believe that they belong in the 2011 NBA playoffs and that’s all that matters for now.

yes the win is a big confediense builder going into amway areana and to build upon getting free agents and getting the city to attend and fill time warner cable arena, this will show how the team will come together and show how much of a push these home wins will be going forward to the playoff push and nba draft with TWO! important draft picks in this years NBA draft

  • I for one am feelin’ the Kwame-Howard matchup. Hope Diaw can be motivated into putting up back to back All Star like efforts against Turgolu. Hendo needs to control J Rich and find a way to get us 15 points.
