Charlotte Bobcats 68 Final
Recap | Box Score
112 Portland Trail Blazers
Boris Diaw, PF 29 MIN | 1-7 FG | 1-2 FT | 6 REB | 3 AST | 3 PTS | -26

The dreaded player option year is what the Bobcats are suffering through with this guy. Thank goodness for Diaw, he must be a decent negotiator.

Tyrus Thomas, PF 21 MIN | 2-5 FG | 3-3 FT | 5 REB | 1 AST | 7 PTS | -16

If you would have held a gun to my head and demanded a stat line for Tyrus prior to this game, this would have been exactly what I came up with. Amnesty candidate?

Gerald Henderson, G 21 MIN | 7-13 FG | 2-2 FT | 3 REB | 1 AST | 16 PTS | -18

Decision making is still very mediocre from Hendo, but I do like the fact that he looks to attack the rim more. Hendo left in 3rd quarter and it’s being called a strained right hamstring. Wouldn’t be surprised if this keeps him out for an extended amount of time.

Kemba Walker, PG 29 MIN | 1-11 FG | 2-2 FT | 2 REB | 3 AST | 4 PTS | -36

The shooting woes just keep on piling up for Kemba and it’s starting to become quite worrisome. I fully understand that he’s being asked to do a lot so soon and I hate his rookie season has to be this way, but some of these bad night’s from the field are off the charts bad.

Reggie Williams, SF 16 MIN | 1-8 FG | 0-0 FT | 5 REB | 1 AST | 2 PTS | -26

Looks out of shape simply because he has absolutely no lift on jump shot- everything is front rim. If Hendo is out for extended amount of time, Williams will get plenty of burn in near future.

Derrick Brown, F 27 MIN | 6-13 FG | 0-0 FT | 4 REB | 0 AST | 12 PTS | -28

Another 12 point game. Whatever.

Bismack Biyombo, C 14 MIN | 1-1 FG | 1-2 FT | 3 REB | 0 AST | 3 PTS | -15

Will he ever learn to stay on his feet on a ball fake?

Three Things We Saw

  1. This is the worst NBA team I have ever watched play- by a huge margin. Surely it can’t get any worse than this.
  2. Bobcats turned the ball over 23 times, leading to 30 Portland points. Portland also scored 58 points in the paint, just 10 less than the entire Bobcats team.
  3. I don’t really know what else to say- Bobcats will play in Phoenix on Saturday night. Vegas, good luck at posting a spread on that one.

  • I hope we leave Hendo out for a nice long time, to make sure he is completely healed by the time he comes back. He’s one of our very best players, we should take absolutely no chances with this guy, give him all the time he needs. This game was painful to watch, I’ve never felt actual enjoyment from the act of turning a television off, but I did during this game. Sadly for me I turned it back on later, and it was even worse. I don’t know what to even begin to suggest at this point. Obviously Walker needs the minutes, you can’t bench him just because he can’t shoot the ball anymore. Same thing with Thomas, and Biyombo, they should be getting huge minutes no matter how bad they are, because they’re the future of the team, or at least have the potential to be, and they have to be given every chance to grow and improve. We’re as bad as it gets, if we lose by more than this it will actually be better, not worse, because it’ll just be something to laugh at instead of be frustrated with. I still hold out hope for improvement, because we’ve got the best teaching coach in the NBA, nobody coaches up young players like Mr Paul Silas. Obviously what he’s been doing so far isn’t working, but he’s proven himself for far too long for me to not believe he can still do it again. At this point it’s all about improvement, and it isn’t about anything else. If we don’t win any more games the rest of the year, except we finish the season winning 5 games in a row and looking like a real team, this season will at least feel like something of a success. That’s about the only goal worth having at this point, and its one we can still achieve. We just need to put on our big boy pants and dig down deep, make the adjustments and grow as a team. Hopefully Mr Paul Silas will work his magic one more time, and make it happen.
