Pacers set tone early- Blowout Bobcats

Charlotte Bobcats 73 Final
Recap | Box Score
108 Indiana Pacers
Corey Maggette, SF 20 MIN | 4-14 FG | 2-4 FT | 2 REB | 0 AST | 10 PTS | -39

Bad shooting night and wasn’t able to get to the line early- where he likes to set the offensive tempo from. Didn’t play much since this one was over before it started.

Boris Diaw, PF 17 MIN | 0-3 FG | 0-0 FT | 2 REB | 4 AST | 0 PTS | -32

I’m so ready for Diaw to no longer be a Bobcat- 25 more games.

Bismack Biyombo, C 24 MIN | 0-2 FG | 0-4 FT | 8 REB | 2 AST | 0 PTS | -15

Not a good night for Biyombo on the defensive end. Hibbert and West used their high offensive IQ and craftiness to fool the rookie all night. Ball fakes, head fakes, pulling Biyombo away from the basket- you name it, they did it.

Reggie Williams, SF 24 MIN | 3-7 FG | 0-2 FT | 5 REB | 1 AST | 6 PTS | -32

Never was able to get his shot going tonight and looked much more concerned with getting to the basket for whatever reason. To me, Williams should never turn down an open jumper to penetrate, just not his game.

D.J. Augustin, PG 32 MIN | 3-12 FG | 1-1 FT | 3 REB | 4 AST | 9 PTS | -44

After Augustin’s 3 turnovers early he cleaned it up a bit, but a bad night offensively regardless. Augustin seems to be content with going through the motions at this point and may be starting to think about himself being in a different jersey next season.

D.J. White, PF 25 MIN | 4-7 FG | 2-2 FT | 5 REB | 0 AST | 10 PTS | +5

If he could give this stat line every night then he’d be a great role player. I like his potential coming off the bench for a lot of teams in this league. Always gives good effort and energy.

Tyrus Thomas, PF 6 MIN | 0-3 FG | 0-0 FT | 1 REB | 0 AST | 0 PTS | -8

AMNESTY.

Derrick Brown, F 28 MIN | 6-9 FG | 4-5 FT | 1 REB | 0 AST | 16 PTS | +4

Good night from the field for Brown, but would like to see him be more assertive than he was on the glass tonight. He plays hard whenever he’s on the floor and those are the guys that should get the playing time on this team at this point.

Kemba Walker, PG 26 MIN | 6-13 FG | 2-2 FT | 1 REB | 5 AST | 15 PTS | -5

Looked really good in the first half pushing the basketball in transition and creating for his teammates. He looked the opposite in the second half, but I credit a lot of that to the fact that the other Bobcats on the floor had quit (exception- Brown and White).

Byron Mullens, C 8 MIN | 0-0 FG | 2-2 FT | 0 REB | 1 AST | 2 PTS | +2

0 REB. How can you expect to play when you’re 7-feet tall, but don’t rebound?

Three Things We Saw

  1. IDENTITY- This is a team that broke a 16-game losing streak Friday night in Toronto and had people proclaiming that being close to full strength again would bring them back to a competitive state. Well, a game later the Bobcats fall by 35.
  2. STAT- The Bobcats were out-rebounded 55-31. Being beat on the glass by 24 in a game has more to do with lack of effort/boxing out and less to do with a lack of talent.
  3. Bobcats already have seven 30-point losses this season. Only two teams in past 25 seasons have had more: 93-94 76ers (9) & 90-91 Nuggets (10).
