|Josh McRoberts, PF Shot Chart 27 MIN | 3-10 FG | 0-0 FT | 4 REB | 0 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK | 3 TO | 7 PTS | -27
Not his best effort. McBob couldn’t guard LaMarcus Aldridge, but not many can.
|Anthony Tolliver, PF Shot Chart 31 MIN | 1-3 FG | 0-0 FT | 3 REB | 2 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 3 PTS | -30
Only 3 FGA in 31 min is a little bit confusing after the game in Staples the night before, but CDR had a lot to do with that. Tolliver was switched onto Lillard in the 1st quarter when Kemba was getting scorched and Damian literally didn’t miss a shot.
|Al Jefferson, C Shot Chart 29 MIN | 9-17 FG | 1-2 FT | 5 REB | 1 AST | 0 STL | 1 BLK | 1 TO | 19 PTS | -17
Big Al carried the offense in the 1st half, but the ball is starting to stick way too much when it goes into the post – much more than it was in the beginning of the season. No cutters or movement off the ball when it touches Jefferson’s hands near the block.
|Kemba Walker, PG Shot Chart 29 MIN | 2-10 FG | 2-2 FT | 3 REB | 3 AST | 3 STL | 0 BLK | 1 TO | 6 PTS | -17
Lillard took Kemba to school tonight. I’m sorry, but this game highlighted just how good Lillard is and how much better Kemba has to get – or it just shows us how far away from the elite guard mold he truly is. You can’t hide Kemba defensively every time down the floor and here’s an undersized SG playing PG – Lillard is the model to compare to — what’s the solution?
Another note: Kemba has to learn how to pick his spots better, defensively, against a guy like Lillard + a team that can shoot the ball against the Blazers. On numerous occasions, Kemba gambling for steals led to unnecessary defensive rotations and wide open Portland 3′s.
|Gerald Henderson, SG Shot Chart 24 MIN | 5-9 FG | 5-6 FT | 1 REB | 2 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 16 PTS | -25
Fairly nice game offensively – started hot again tonight from mid-range. Defensively, Hendo was lost just like the rest of the 1st team. Over-helping + no communication on defensive rotations led to a barrage of Portland 3′s and Wesley Matthews, who Hendo was guarding, made 5 of 6 for the game.
|Cody Zeller, C Shot Chart 17 MIN | 1-6 FG | 3-4 FT | 5 REB | 1 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK | 1 TO | 5 PTS | 0
Now 3-26 (11.5%) in his last 5 games from the floor. At least he’s getting to the FT line at a decent rate these days.
|Bismack Biyombo, C Shot Chart 19 MIN | 2-3 FG | 2-3 FT | 4 REB | 0 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK | 1 TO | 6 PTS | -13
One of the few players on the team who I believe has made positive strides in the recent losing streak – lobbying for more playing time?
Biz continues to look more comfortable on the floor – making quicker decision with the ball + catching it on the move.
|Ramon Sessions, PG Shot Chart 29 MIN | 3-8 FG | 8-10 FT | 0 REB | 3 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK | 1 TO | 14 PTS | -14
We haven’t seen a game where Sessions has gotten to the FT line this efficiently in awhile, so that’s refreshing – meh, I’m just throwing darts for underlying positives at this point.
|Chris Douglas-Roberts, SG Shot Chart 24 MIN | 6-8 FG | 6-7 FT | 4 REB | 2 AST | 1 STL | 1 BLK | 1 TO | 20 PTS | -6
CDR breakout game. This could very possibly vault him into a role where he sees a lot more playing time at the SF position. Not sure that Clifford is ready to slot him in the starting lineup, but the trust factor certainly went up and I’d expect to see a split in burn between Tolliver and CDR moving forward.
“We came out sluggish. Portland is too good to come out sluggish. We weren’t ready to play. They hit 20 3′s, and that was the game.”
Not quite sure why Clifford didn’t make the adjustment defensively according to how Portland was shooting the ball from the arc early on. The Bobcats continued to cheat into the gaps, becoming disconnected from shooters and the Blazers just kept raining in the deep balls.
Three Things We Saw
- The Blazers shot a season high 58% from the floor + 63.6% from behind the arc.
- Of course Portland had many more opportunities to rebound the ball than Charlotte, it’s still worth noting that the Bobcats were beaten on the glass 52-30.
- The Bobcats are now in danger of losing every game of this current 5-game road trip and 6 in a row overall.
