Bobcats pickup big win in Orlando

Charlotte Bobcats 111 Final
Recap | Box Score
101 Orlando Magic
Josh McRoberts, PF Shot Chart 36 MIN | 6-8 FG | 0-0 FT | 2 REB | 5 AST | 1 STL | 1 BLK | 1 TO | 17 PTS | +17

A breakout game for McBob from behind the arc – that knuckleball is deceivingly effective. Best offensive game of the year and that’s deserves an impressive grade – gave a huge scoring boost from the usuals tonight, and likely the performance that got the Bobcats into triple digits.

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, SF Shot Chart 28 MIN | 4-8 FG | 1-6 FT | 4 REB | 0 AST | 1 STL | 1 BLK | 1 TO | 9 PTS | +5

MKG was good in the first half, especially when Charlotte got in transition. Afflalo ate up MKG for the most the night, though – he continues to gain back the game speed from the injury.

Al Jefferson, C Shot Chart 36 MIN | 13-17 FG | 4-4 FT | 16 REB | 2 AST | 3 STL | 1 BLK | 1 TO | 30 PTS | +17

Wow. How will Miami guard Jefferson tomorrow? Right, Oden because of size, but can he play that many minutes? Big Al is rolling right now and let’s hope it continues through this 3-game home stand.

Kemba Walker, PG Shot Chart 43 MIN | 7-16 FG | 4-6 FT | 2 REB | 10 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 19 PTS | +14

Unreal efficient performance from Kemba tonight – 10 assists and 0 turnover!? Are you serious? If Kemba and Al keep this up, Charlotte will win games they’re aren’t supposed to coming soon.

Gerald Henderson, SG Shot Chart 35 MIN | 3-11 FG | 11-12 FT | 3 REB | 1 AST | 0 STL | 2 BLK | 3 TO | 17 PTS | +10

Continues to struggle from the field, but holy foul line.

Steve Clifford

The combination (likely) of you preaching getting back to the defensive roots of this team + the return of MKG showed dividends tonight.

Three Things We Saw

  1. Big Al set the tone for a big time points in the paint advantage tonight for Charlotte — 38-24.
  2. After giving up 5 offensive rebounds in the 1st half, the Bobcats only gave up 1 in the 2nd – it proved to be important for the end result.
  3. A huge opportunity stares Charlotte in the face for their next 3 games at home — Miami, Toronto & LAC. Taking 2 of those games will have this team back in the playoff discussion.

You guys are joking right??? This team gave up 5 more points then Orlando scores per game when they didn’t have Vucevic to get offensive boards for them or feast on Jefferson…Defense looked meh (that’s what you get with Jefferson at center) this was just feasting on a as bad team with their only defensively post presence gone…we gave up 35 in 1 quarter…that was an average at best defensive game for this poor unit. Giving Clifford to much credit where it isn’t due.

I didn’t get to see this game but your point about the reality of the defense of tonight makes sense. If only we had an athletic 21 year old elite level rim protector who caould also rebound… Oh wait! We do and he played 3 minutes…

we are referring to beating orlando as a “big win”

that sums it all up right there.

Heat Game: MKG playing great D on LeBron lots of phantom calls so far in the 3rd…Zeller just posted up Ray Allen, no Bobcat even thinks of passing it to him, SERIOUSLY??? 7 ft vs 6ft 5 and our ball handlers just ignore him…WTH

  • Spencer/SDS

Wow for being a “defensive” minded coach Clifford sure is an idiot at times…yes lets allow the slow footed old Tolliver on LeBron for the rest of the game…ya that worked out a lot, once LeBron realized how slow Tolliver was it was basically just…i’ma go by you now, talk to you later game, seriously there is no benefit to having Tollvier on the court over MKG at the end of this game, doesn’t help you win the game, goes against his “defensive” philosophy and doesn’t help anyone long term other then make Tolliver look old and sad.

Jefferson proves often why he should be a PF, beating up on all these PFs the last few games shows how dominate he could be at that position, plus put him next to Biyombo is the starting core and this team has nice defense in the paint, instead??? Never going to happen with clifford as the head coach thou…

Also, Seth Curry here we come (hopefully) Kemba is likely going to be out awhile.

haha about the seth curry. i thought the same thing the SECOND kemba went down. problem is, we have 15 roster spots taken already so its more like HERE COMES PARGO (YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY©special ed).

biyombo comes in the game, heat get stifled. he converts 3 straight buckets plus 1 of 2 and one’s for 7 points in a 3 minute span and then…………..nothing we go back to plan A since that worked so well and lebron just runs a 3rd quarter layup drill all over tolliver and jefferson.

mkg playing 16 minutes due to foul trouble would make sense. if……the game didn’t go into overtime, and if he had more than the 4 fouls he actually had, and if we were playing ANYBODY that tolliver or CDR could matchup with. henderson had to guard lebron down the stretch.

seriously…..what the eff is this guy doing? and people think he’s a good coach? how do you watch the layup line and NOT put biyombo in immediately? how do you not post up zeller against RASHARD LEWIS?! the dude weighs like 150 pounds. when biyombo is converting bucket after bucket, why on earth would you go away from that? it’s just mind boggling the decision making from the coach. 17 and 25. cleveland and new york are 1 game behind us.

now would be the perfect time to start dealing. clear that roster space for curry. if we’re going to suck, the fans would love to see curry wearing #30, zeller and biyombo playing, and the team actually getting better for next year instead of running in place (9th place currently and trending downward).

    Big win indeed.

I’ll say what we are all thinking: time for Big Al to have that ankle surgery?
