Bryan: OVER. But just over. I don’t think there’s any player or combination of players that can slow Williams down when he’s on. D-Will goes for 31 tonight and makes it look mindnumbingly easy.
Spencer: UNDER. Just because Silas said this morning that the team would be doubling Deron early in sets to force the ball out of his hands. Don’t necessarily think that’s a good idea for the Bobcats either- just means somebody else goes off for the Nets tonight (Brooks, Morrow, Humphries).
Jenn: UNDER. Anticipate that the Bobcats will double team Williams this time around. Although that will leave other strong shooters, such as Farmer, open that is risk the Bobcats should be willing to take.
2. Bismack Biyombo had a great game against the Magic, with 10 points, 15 rebounds, and 7 blocks. That was followed with 2 points, 9 rebounds, and no blocks against the Jazz (and being torched by Al Jefferson). Which one does he approximate tonight?
Bryan: I’m feeling optimistic today, so give me the more promising 10, 15 and six stat line. With Bismack, though, I wouldn’t be surprised either way if he put up his first triple double or didn’t score at all and fouled out midway through the third quarter.
Spencer: I’ll say he’ll be closer to the production from the Orlando game- I like Biyombo’s chances against Shelden Williams. Hopefully Biyombo learned a lesson going up against Jefferson Wednesday night, showing him how disciplined you have to be defensively to be successful on a consistent basis in this league.
Jenn: Looking at Biyombo’s progression over the course of the season, his poor performance against the Jazz was a greater deviation from the norm than his stellar performance against the Magic. That said, his performance against the Magic more closely approximates his performance tonight.
3. The Bobcats lost by 3 to the Nets, then beat the Magic by 16, and then lost to the Jazz by 6 this week. Who wins tonight – the Nets or Bobcats?
Bryan: Nets… The way Williams is playing is going to make it difficult on Kemba and Augustin and probably Hendo, too. Still, the ‘Cats can keep it close if Corey Maggette keeps getting to the free throw line and Kemba keeps hitting open teammates.
Spencer: Bobcats. Bobcats have been playing with a lot more intensity and energy as of late and Maggette has been extremely productive on the offensive end. Key to a Bobcats victory- Gerald Henderson and what he’s able to produce offensively.
Jenn: The best offense is a good defense. The Bobcats previously lost to the Nets by 3 points, despite D. Williams’ explosive 57-point game. If Walker and Augustin can effectively contain Williams, expect a win tonight.
