Bobcats vs Pacers – 03/22/09 – Boxscore
Score: 108-83 Pacers
Bobcats Record: 31-39 (1 game out of 8th)
Meritorious Player: Sean May. 7 points on 3 of 3 shooting, 2 rebounds and a block in just 5 and a half minutes of action. He gets the edge of Juwan Howard because he had a slightly better net +/-…and the rest of the team was…not good.
What to say about this one? Both teams were coming off a game the night before – the Cats in Toronto, the Pacers in Indiana. If energy were the issue, does that explain that they got destroyed in the 3rd quarter, coming out of the half? I cannot answer it – and do not really want to think about the game that much.
The good news for the Cats: The teams around them also lost, so they remain just a game out of 8th. It was however among their last few remaining likely wins – the list is now just @Washington on Wednesday, Knicks in CLT on Saturday, and then @OKC on April 10th. It is an 8-4 road/home split the rest of the way, with games against LAL, BOS, and ORL looming as particularly difficult games. The other good news for the Bobcats: They get Philly twice, the Knicks, Detroit, Chicago, and New Jersey – the teams they are competing with for a playoff spot. They still control their destiny – win against the teams they are fighting with, and the season will extend in CLT. If not – well, at least they kept it interesting (and should almost definitely set a new franchise high for wins). Now, someone please start making up reasons for Boris to get mad at every team left on the schedule.
