|Corey Maggette, SF 31 MIN | 5-15 FG | 9-10 FT | 2 REB | 2 AST | 21 PTS | -4
Not a great shooting night, but another 20+ point performance with ability to get to the foul line.
|Tyrus Thomas, PF 28 MIN | 5-7 FG | 4-4 FT | 8 REB | 1 AST | 14 PTS | -1
A much better performance from Tyrus- possibly his most promising game of the season. You wouldn’t know it talking to him though.
Tyrus after the game- “I play to win. It’s not about individual stats.” “If you don’t win, it don’t matter.
|Bismack Biyombo, C 24 MIN | 1-7 FG | 0-0 FT | 11 REB | 0 AST | 2 PTS | +1
Poor night from the field and looked a little more uncomfortable than he has as of late. Haywood’s big body gave Biyombo some problems in the first half and allowed him to never get in any kind of rhythm on offensive end.
Biz on what he needs to improve most in his game right now- “Right now I need to improve my post game. Offensive game.”
|Gerald Henderson, G 28 MIN | 5-12 FG | 1-1 FT | 1 REB | 2 AST | 12 PTS | -1
I’ve seen this stat line many times from Hendo and I’m never overcome with joy when I see it. Wasn’t very aggressive tonight and at times I forgot he was on the floor. Has got to attack the rim more at some point.
|D.J. Augustin, PG 35 MIN | 4-12 FG | 2-2 FT | 2 REB | 4 AST | 12 PTS | -6
Augustin continues to take care of the basketball- 0 turnovers again tonight. I like the 12 shot total, but tonight they weren’t falling as often as he would have liked. All that considered, it was a crazy day for Augustin hearing the rumors about himself possibly becoming a Laker by the trade deadline.
Augustin on trade deadline fiasco- “Unless it really happens, it’s just rumors. I’ve been in trades talks here since I was a rookie. Until it really happens, I won’t believe it, but it is what it is and I don’t listen or care about it.”
|Kemba Walker, PG 16 MIN | 4-8 FG | 2-3 FT | 5 REB | 4 AST | 12 PTS | -4
Kemba came out of the gates in this game smoking hot with 10 points in the first half. Oddly enough, Walker didn’t enter the game in the second half until the 2:44 mark in the 3rd quarter- he only scored 2 points and took 3 shots in second half.
Kemba on what he needs to improve the most- “Probably just getting everybody involved more. My decision making could get a lot better. That’s probably it at this point.”
Four Things We Saw
- Inconsistent shooting- The Bobcats shot 51% in the first half and then came back to shoot 31% in the second.
I asked Coach Silas if he thought Dallas’ zone defense had a lot to do with the struggles from the field in the second half- “It was the fact that we didn’t penetrate enough and we didn’t put them in the middle enough. We weren’t cutting, we were just standing and we really haven’t had a lot of time to work on our offense against the zone. If they would have continued to play man-to-man I think we could have had a chance to get them.”
- Points in the paint- Dallas scored 42 in the painted area, Charlotte had just 20. This statistic has continued to rear it’s ugly head for the Bobcats all season and again tonight it broke them down the stretch.
- Improvement- Silas on his teams’ performance as of late: “If we can continue to play like this, I’ll be satisfied, I think everybody will. We’ll win some games, we played a very good team tonight and hung in there with them. It was really a great effort, because we’re struggling to get there, but we are getting there.”
Positive Stats- only 12 turnovers, 18-20 (90%) from foul line, 40+ rebounds.
- Boris Diaw was in street clothes for the entire game and tonight may have made his final game as a member of the Bobcats.
