Bobcats Don’t Get Buck in Here Against Milwaukee

Milwaukee Bucks 112 Final
Recap | Box Score
92 Charlotte Bobcats
Corey Maggette, SF 26 MIN | 2-9 FG | 6-6 FT | 4 REB | 1 AST | 10 PTS | -5Coming off a back injury, Maggette struggled while shooting 2-9 FG. Corey epitomized the lethargy of the team.
Tyrus Thomas, PF 26 MIN | 5-11 FG | 0-0 FT | 7 REB | 3 AST | 10 PTS | -8It’s nice to see Thomas come out with some semblance of enthusiasm for the game. Not a great night, but Tyrus has consistently put out 10+ points and 5+ rebounds over the past month. The Bobcats need this type of consistency out of their players.
Bismack Biyombo, C 32 MIN | 1-6 FG | 3-4 FT | 6 REB | 0 AST | 5 PTS | -9Gooden had a double double against the Bis and to top it off, scored only 5 points and was 1 for 6 from the field. Gooden had his way in the paint with Biyombo, which was a huge detriment to the Cats.
Gerald Henderson, G 33 MIN | 13-19 FG | 3-3 FT | 6 REB | 3 AST | 29 PTS | -12Henderson had a great shooting night and held Ellis to 13 points. MVP Award? At least for the night. Unfortunately, it takes more than one stellar performance for the Bobcats to pull out a win.
D.J. Augustin, PG 21 MIN | 0-2 FG | 0-0 FT | 0 REB | 2 AST | 0 PTS | -8I think these stats speak for themselves. No points, no rebounds and 2 assists in 21 minutes. Not his best effort.
Derrick Brown, F 29 MIN | 5-9 FG | 3-4 FT | 5 REB | 0 AST | 13 PTS | -14Brown had a nice dunk to close out the second half and was a solid contributor off the bench. Driving consistency out of starters and bench players alike is key for the Bobcats.
Kemba Walker, PG 25 MIN | 4-12 FG | 4-4 FT | 2 REB | 7 AST | 13 PTS | -19In the battle of the undersized point guards, Walker came out victorious tonight despite being 4-12 from the field.
Byron Mullens, C 16 MIN | 2-8 FG | 1-1 FT | 4 REB | 1 AST | 5 PTS | -11Mullens brought the approximately 2,000 fans in attendance to their feet with a great 4th quarter dunk. What Mullens lacks in defensive abilities he makes up for in effort.

Three Things We Saw

  1. With the Bobcats coming off 3 days of rest and the Bucks playing their second of 3 games in a row, a 20 point loss is a particularly harsh moral defeat.
  2. The fact that the Bobcats didn’t score a single 3 until 1:37 in the 3rd quarter shows the relative weakness of the team’s outside shooting. The Cats need to find a way to make use of Walker and Augustin together.
  3. At least we weren’t the only Bobcats to falter tonight.
