|Josh McRoberts, PF Shot Chart 29 MIN | 1-5 FG | 0-0 FT | 5 REB | 3 AST | 0 STL | 2 BLK | 2 TO | 2 PTS | -8Not a night that jumps off at you on the stat sheet and McRoberts had some trouble containing guys like Richard Jefferson and Marvin Williams off the dribble in the first half.|
|Anthony Tolliver, PF Shot Chart 26 MIN | 1-5 FG | 0-0 FT | 5 REB | 1 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 1 TO | 2 PTS | -4Very disappointing game for Tolliver. Coach Clifford referenced the 24-point differential in the 3-point shooting category tonight — Tolliver had some great looks from deep tonight, but couldn’t convert any of them.|
|Al Jefferson, C Shot Chart 31 MIN | 9-19 FG | 1-3 FT | 11 REB | 1 AST | 0 STL | 3 BLK | 0 TO | 19 PTS | -3This was quite a bi-polar kind of game for Big Al. Some awesome moments — the monster put back dunk off Kemba’s miss to tie the game late in the 4th, but then, with Charlotte down just 1, Jefferson couldn’t convert on two point blank put back attempts at the rim.
Jefferson was noticeably more decisive when he touched the ball in the post tonight – ball didn’t stick for as long.
Note: I’ll have post-game video coming later on from Big Al.
|Kemba Walker, PG Shot Chart 34 MIN | 9-16 FG | 1-2 FT | 5 REB | 4 AST | 1 STL | 1 BLK | 5 TO | 20 PTS | -3Another very efficient game for Kemba. Offensively, he’s in the zone currently with his game. The 5 turnovers tonight is the one disappointing factor. He had a great look at the basket to give the Bobcats the lead with less than 15 seconds left, but it didn’t drop. Big Al said it best after the game — “The basketball Gods just weren’t on our side tonight.”|
|Gerald Henderson, SG Shot Chart 30 MIN | 4-14 FG | 4-4 FT | 5 REB | 2 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 1 TO | 12 PTS | -5I wasn’t a huge fan of Hendo’s game tonight. Obviously, he wasn’t great from the field, but it was one play that’s really rubbing me wrong – transition opportunity with 49 seconds left in the game when Hendo was leading the break in a 3-on-2 situation — he had a clear opportunity to either pull up for a jumper or attack the basket against Marvin Williams. Instead, Hendo tries to throw a last second pass to the wing and it’s picked off by Williams – an underlying bad inexcusable decision that may have very well lost this game for the Bobcats — strangely enough, that was his only turnover of the game.|
|Cody Zeller, C Shot Chart 19 MIN | 4-5 FG | 0-0 FT | 3 REB | 2 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 1 TO | 8 PTS | +5He’s getting much more comfortable with the mid-range jumper and I like it. Zeller is going to be a nice player in this league, he just needs to add some strength.|
|Bismack Biyombo, C Shot Chart 17 MIN | 2-3 FG | 1-2 FT | 10 REB | 0 AST | 0 STL | 2 BLK | 0 TO | 5 PTS | 010 rebounds in 17 minutes is insane. I’m starting to see real improvement and comfortability with Biz on the floor – thinking that playing a role off the bench is definitely helping.
Protected the rim at an elite level as he usually does when in the game, but still learning to not bite on ball fakes.
|Ramon Sessions, PG Shot Chart 24 MIN | 4-10 FG | 4-5 FT | 3 REB | 3 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 13 PTS | +5Sessions didn’t cough the ball up any in this one, but struggled to guard Trey Burke and made a horrible decision to help off of him in the 4th quarter that led to a big 3-ball to stretch the lead back out when the Bobcats were trying to make a run.|
Coach on what swung this game in Utah’s favor:
“They had too many second chance points (21) and then obviously, you know, minus 24 in the three point shooting game is a lot, lot, lot to overcome. So, that was basically the story of the game.”
On Jeff Van Gundy’s comments about Bobcats being a playoff team last week:
“Our guys are organized offensively and our purpose is very good. Both, to get into sets with speed, which is critical in this league and then when the first option isn’t there, what we do to get shots. Our guys are doing a good job.”
“We have our way to win, you know? We have our way to win. I like our team – I’ve said that from the beginning. I told the guys in there (locker room) that handling disappointment and coming back and playing well on Monday is part of being in the NBA – I don’t care how good you are.”
On the stress that Utah PG Trey Burke put on Bobcats defense:
“He made the big one (3-pointer), which was the pick-and-roll one – going to his left hand when it was tied – he made the three, that was a big shot. His other shots really came off the other guys. He’s playing as the point guard, but he’s really a spot-up shooter.”
Note: I’ll have video coming later on from Clifford post-game presser.
