|Tyrus Thomas, PF 33 MIN | 7-12 FG | 0-0 FT | 16 REB | 2 AST | 14 PTS | +4
What a pleasant surprise this was. Put the efficiency from the field to the side- the 16 REB is such a good sign for Tyrus. Speaks to the weight that he added in the off-season. Only 2 turnovers as well.
|Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, SF 20 MIN | 2-5 FG | 1-4 FT | 8 REB | 2 AST | 5 PTS | -11
Just doesn’t look to score as much as I was expecting. Still figuring it out, so no need for anyone to panic on MKG.
|Brendan Haywood, C 28 MIN | 5-8 FG | 1-2 FT | 2 REB | 0 AST | 11 PTS | -7
Haywood isn’t known for being a specialist on the offensive end, but a nice output in the scoring department last night. That being said, looked clumsy with the ball a lot- 4 turnovers. Not a great game on the glass and Greg Monroe made him look silly a lot, but Monroe makes numerous guys in this league look silly- he should be an all-star this year.
|Kemba Walker, PG 28 MIN | 4-15 FG | 6-9 FT | 3 REB | 4 AST | 15 PTS | -6
He took a bunch of shots, didn’t make very many. Had 4 assist, oh, and 4 turnovers. Very rookie-esque performance from Kemba.
|Gerald Henderson, SG 22 MIN | 1-6 FG | 2-2 FT | 3 REB | 0 AST | 4 PTS | -19
Woof, not too good. So what I said the other day about Hendo hopefully not having anymore super lackluster performances like this- yeahhhh, um, looks like I was wrong.
|Bismack Biyombo, PF 21 MIN | 1-4 FG | 0-0 FT | 2 REB | 0 AST | 2 PTS | -6
Meh in every single way possible. This has not been an encouraging preseason for Biyombo.
|Ramon Sessions, PG 20 MIN | 4-9 FG | 5-6 FT | 3 REB | 6 AST | 13 PTS | +5
Mr. efficient. I know that Kemba is the starting PG of this team, but Dunlap has got to get Sessions on the court as much as possible. Expect Charlotte to go with a lot of smaller lineups to allow Sessions, Gordon and Kemba to all be on the floor together at the same time.
|Ben Gordon, SG 33 MIN | 4-15 FG | 2-2 FT | 3 REB | 2 AST | 13 PTS | +6
Not a stellar night from the field, but he wasn’t shy about getting his shot up. Gordon was back in Detroit for the first time since being traded to Charlotte, so I can imagine it was somewhat of an emotional game for him.
Three Things We Saw
- Charlotte has got to find a way to eliminate these awful quarters of basketball- Bobcats scored just 14 points in the 1st on 22.7% shooting.
- On a brighter note, the Bobcats did force 20 Pistons turnovers and turned them into 28 points.
- That’s about all I got. Tired of preseason and ready for the real show to begin, but am a little bit excited about seeing us against Lebron and the Heat on Tuesday. That game is being played at PNC Arena in Raleigh, by the way.
