Today the Bobcats worked out two of the prospects that they’ll likely seriously consider with the 2nd overall pick, Bradley Beal and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. The two did go up against each other today on offense and defense.
“It was cool. We were laughing and joking around, but competing at the same time,” said Beal about the workout.
Beal, at 6’3, is much smaller than the 6’7 Kidd-Gilchrist so I would imagine Charlotte learned a lot about each player’s strengths considering the contrasting offensive and defensive styles. Beal agreed.
“We both got after it, on both ends, even my defense and his offense. We’re just competitors and we both went at it today,” added Beal.
Kidd-Gilchrist made it clear that he’s all about winning basketball games and playing as hard as possible, which everyone has heard is the word on him anyways.
“It’s all about heart to me. Heart and winning basketball games. That’s what I’m all about. It went good today. I’m a winner, and I showed them that today,’ said Kidd-Gilchrist after the workout.
Jordan, Higgins and Cho were all present at the workouts today, but did not comment afterwards. The Bobcats plan to workout Thomas Robinson and Harrison Barnes before the draft and are also expected to hire a coach prior to next Thursday as well.
Quincy Acy (Baylor), Bernard James (Florida State), and Kris Joseph (Syracuse) all worked out for the Bobcats today as well. All are possible second round selections.
