|Corey Maggette, SF 17 MIN | 1-7 FG | 3-4 FT | 1 REB | 1 AST | 5 PTS | -12Rough game for Maggette. Wasn’t getting the calls when he attacked the rim and that’s never good for him because of the fact that he lives on the foul line.|
|Tyrus Thomas, PF 21 MIN | 1-4 FG | 2-2 FT | 6 REB | 1 AST | 4 PTS | -27He gets an A in my book for the hustle category tonight, but Tyrus couldn’t find a way to be an impact on the offensive end and therefore found a spot at the end of the bench for much of the second half.|
|Bismack Biyombo, C 15 MIN | 2-4 FG | 0-0 FT | 5 REB | 0 AST | 4 PTS | -18Biyombo only played 15 minutes tonight, but most of that was due to the fact that Byron Mullens had it going and gobbled up all his minutes.|
|Gerald Henderson, G 33 MIN | 9-14 FG | 3-5 FT | 3 REB | 3 AST | 21 PTS | -16Hendo continues to impress on the offensive end as of late. He used the ball fake better tonight than I’ve ever seen him do, he moved without the ball and he wasn’t hesitant to attack the rim when the opportunity presented itself. Stellar performance.|
|D.J. Augustin, PG 21 MIN | 0-5 FG | 2-3 FT | 2 REB | 1 AST | 2 PTS | -23Blah. You would think that Augustin would be in auditioning mode for free-agency suitors next season, but his past 4 games have been horrendous (5-22 FG, 23%).|
|D.J. White, PF 27 MIN | 4-7 FG | 1-4 FT | 4 REB | 1 AST | 9 PTS | +20Productive night for White. He hit some big shots to keep the Bobcats within striking distance and got most of Tyrus Thomas’ minutes in the second half. One major flaw- couldn’t keep Brandon Bass off the glass in the 4th quarter and it led to big FT’s for the Celtics as Charlotte was bidding for the comeback.|
|Reggie Williams, SF 19 MIN | 3-6 FG | 0-0 FT | 4 REB | 4 AST | 9 PTS | +15I thought Reggie had, overall, a very nice game. He played some SG and PG tonight and showed that he can not only spot up and shoot, but also facilitate when Silas wants Kemba off the ball and also when Augustin and Kemba are both sitting.|
|Derrick Brown, F 31 MIN | 4-6 FG | 8-8 FT | 0 REB | 7 AST | 16 PTS | +5Love the aggressiveness Brown showed on the offensive end tonight. If he could ever develop a first move to the basket that was handy and a decent mid-range game, he could really be a dangerous offensive player in this league. Did lots on offensive end tonight, but the goose egg in the rebounding category is never attractive for a SF/PF. Derrick’s problem will likely always be that he doesn’t have a true position.|
|Kemba Walker, PG 24 MIN | 1-8 FG | 5-7 FT | 1 REB | 7 AST | 7 PTS | +10Kemba just couldn’t ever get it going tonight on offensive end. Not to deny him of the 7 assist, which look nice on the stat sheet, but most all of them came very late. Just couldn’t get anything to fall tonight.|
|Byron Mullens, C 33 MIN | 8-18 FG | 1-2 FT | 7 REB | 0 AST | 18 PTS | +11As some may know about me- I’m not the biggest advocate of Mullens game, but tonight he really impressed me with the toughness that he showed out there in stretches. Garnett is known to bring that out in people, but I’d like to see Byron bring that attitude to the court more often. Good balance on the offensive end with shot selection as well. Overall, very nice game for the youngster.|
Three Things We Saw
- EFFORT- It was certainly there tonight for the Bobcats and that’s always an encouraging sign for a team that is struggling to the extent this group has.
- BENCH PRODUCTION- 59 points from the second unit tonight. If the starters even thought about showing up, the Bobcats would have probably been able to pull this one out.
- POINTS IN THE PAINT- This stat has been the Bobcats backbone for most of the season and after the first half the Celtics only had 2 point advantage in this category, but in the second half Boston won 18-6.
