Booed on draft night, questioned throughout the first half of last season, Zeller had every reason to cash in and chalk up a rookie campaign to forget. Instead, the young seven footer turned things around in the second half of the season and was rewarded yesterday with an All-Rookie Second Team selection.

After struggling to find his footing in the first half of the season, Zeller shot over 50% and averaged 8 points 4.9 rebounds over his last 27 games. The turnaround wasn’t simply evident in the numbers, but in the way he played. Zeller exuded more confidence, toughness and even carved out a role on the team as a bench offensive rebounder.

Zeller ranked in the top ten in field goal percentage (6), rebounding (6) and free throw percentage (7) among NBA rookies. Also, he’s kinda weird and funny.

Congrats Cody! We can’t wait for your sophomore suit up in Hornets teal and purple.
