Tyrus Thomas has focused his attention in a different direction during this painful NBA lockout and that’s because he’s had more time to focus it towards his foundation that he started back in 2009 called Tyrus Thomas Inc. This foundation is focused around the Baton Rouge, Charlotte and Chicago areas and attempts to increase awareness in youth outreach, community development and organizational support. The foundation has created and joined programs such as Volunteers in Public Service, Suits and Sneakers, Dash Against Diabetes, Let’s Talk Tour, National Down Syndrome Society, Lights on Afterschool and many others. Tyrus Thomas is a Baton Rouge, LA native and also attended and played college basketball at Louisiana State University.
When the lockout does finally come to an end Thomas will play a huge role in the Bobcats success, but efforts like this one show that Tyrus Thomas has his idea of success focused in the right direction. So here’s to you Tyrus, for in a time when so many of us are focused on a fight over billions of dollars (NBA lockout), you and your foundation can remind us all about what should always be important; community service and helping others.
