|Derrick Brown, F 22 MIN | 4-5 FG | 0-0 FT | 3 REB | 1 AST | 8 PTS | -9
Getting good experience with the few starts as of late, but defensively Brown is getting abused and watching him try to chase Joe Johnson around screens last night was a joke. Brown is a long, springy, athletic big that doesn’t have a true position (I think he’s an undersized PF) and that’s dangerous territory in this league.
|Byron Mullens, C 32 MIN | 7-19 FG | 2-2 FT | 3 REB | 0 AST | 17 PTS | -9
Byron is beginning to develop quite a bit of confidence on the offensive end and has the Bobcats anchor for scoring in the past 3-5 games. He’s looking to attack the rim more, which is encouraging. I’ve been hard on Mullens this season, mostly because of his lack of defensive principles, but this guy is extremely young and I’m starting to believe his upside will overweigh his deficiencies.
|Bismack Biyombo, C 24 MIN | 2-5 FG | 0-2 FT | 5 REB | 0 AST | 4 PTS | -12
Below average night for Bismack. This kid is learning every night out and I have no concerns about him being quite a player in the future.
|Gerald Henderson, G 24 MIN | 3-9 FG | 2-3 FT | 4 REB | 2 AST | 8 PTS | -6
Struggled from the field tonight and continues to struggle with consistency- just remember, a lot of this inconsistency is a product of a poor offensive team that struggles at record rates in the half court.
|Kemba Walker, PG 24 MIN | 3-8 FG | 2-3 FT | 2 REB | 6 AST | 10 PTS | -9
Continues to be productive offensively, particularly from deep- Kemba is 8-16 (50%) from 3-point range in his past 5 games.
|Corey Maggette, SF 26 MIN | 2-7 FG | 2-4 FT | 2 REB | 2 AST | 6 PTS | -11
Bad game returning to the lineup. Not sure how much more run Maggette will see this season- no sense in him risking further injury at this point.
|Matt Carroll, SG 24 MIN | 3-3 FG | 3-3 FT | 0 REB | 0 AST | 9 PTS | -14
I was just happy to see a good game from the field from Carroll. The one aspect of Carroll’s games he’s always been able to hang his hat on, shooting, has been awful this season (36.7 FG%, 19.2 3FG%). Even though he only attempted 3 shots tonight, he made them all- baby steps.
|Cory Higgins, G 24 MIN | 9-15 FG | 4-5 FT | 3 REB | 3 AST | 22 PTS | -11
All I have to say is Congrats, Cory Higgins- a career night for him. Higgins may not be on an NBA roster after this season and maybe never again, so tonight will be a great memory for him.
