The Charlotte Hornets defeated the Westbrook-led Thunder Sunday afternoon in impressive fashion. Although Westbrook got his first triple-double against this Charlotte franchise, he was unable to lead them to victory. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist did a great job guarding him despite what the potential-MVP’s numbers say. He made Westbrook work for everything he got and even turned him over leading to baskets the other way. The Thunder turned the ball over 24 times directly leading to 35 points for the away team.
On the offensive end, Kemba Walker led the way with 29 points with a barrage of three-pointers coming in the third period. Walker scored 12 points in the third which propelled the Hornets to a hot start out of the locker room — Charlotte began on a 13-0 run. The bench play was, again, vital to the win. Without their play in the last several games, the Hornets would not be in the position that they are. Lamb and Kaminsky led the way off the pine with 13 and 18 points, respectively.
Charlotte remains a game out of the 8th spot with 5 left to play. We discuss the playoff chances on our latest episode of Buzz Beat.
