Jeff Taylor out for season with ruptured Achilles tendon

Jeff Taylor has ruptured his right Achilles tendon and will miss the remainder of the season, reports the Charlotte Observer’s Rick Bonnell. Taylor went down within the first few minutes of Friday’s game against the Detroit Pistons, and had to be helped off the court.

This is a tough injury for Taylor, obviously. Achilles injuries can be notoriously tough to come back from, and as a second-round pick he only has one unguaranteed  year remaining on his contract. Here’s hoping for a speedy and full recovery.

In the short term, the injury puts the Bobcats in a hole. With Michael Kidd-Gilchrist also injured, Charlotte will likely start Anthony Tolliver at small forward and play new signing Chris Douglas-Roberts off the bench. Kidd-Gilchrist is expected back in January as he recovers from a broken hand.
