It feels a little bit like throwing darts here, but SheridanHoops.com is reporting that Charlotte is calling around the league, gauging interest in MKG.
The Charlotte Bobcats are shopping Michael Kidd-Gilchrist around the league, confident they will be able to replace him with Otto Porter of Georgetown with the No. 4 pick in Thursday’s draft.
The reason the Bobcats braintrust of Rich Cho and owner Michael Jordan believe Porter will be available is because, SheridanHoops has learned from league sources, the Washington Wizards are determined to draft Anthony Bennett of UNLV with the No. 3 pick.
A second league source said the Bobcats have been working the phones, gauging the interest level among teams for the 2nd pick in the 2012 NBA Draft.

The report goes on to suggest that Golden State, Milwaukee, Atlanta and Boston have all expressed interest in acquiring Kidd-Gilchrist from the Bobcats.
This report would suggest a few different things that seem very far-fetched:
1) Cho & Jordan are giving up on their #2 overall draft pick one year after drafting him. Let us not forget that this was a Cho pick. Oh, and just months after giving up on their head coach who only survived one year. The franchise can’t possibly continue to give up on it’s own in the middle of a rebuilding project.
2) This would also tell us that the Wizards are giving in on Porter and now plan to draft Anthony Bennett. The most sure thing in this entire draft up to this point has been that Washington was locked in on drafting Otto Porter if he was there at #3.
Does this not feel a bit like a smokescreen to anyone. I’m not suggesting that the source isn’t valid. I’m simply pointing out that we should probably tread lightly with this rumor. Very light.
