Thunder blast Bobcats in second half

Charlotte Bobcats 98 Final
Recap | Box Score
120 Oklahoma City Thunder
Bismack Biyombo, F 20 MIN | 0-3 FG | 0-0 FT | 6 REB | 1 AST | 0 PTS | -12

Meh. Hate the goose egg in the scoring department, but only took three FG’s in 20 min. Biz looks like he may start the season coming off the bench as Byron Mullens has definitely proved to be the superior option at PF.

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, F 18 MIN | 0-4 FG | 3-4 FT | 5 REB | 1 AST | 3 PTS | -13

Struggled from the field, which has been a repeat offense for MKG in the preseason. Only took four shots in the game, though. Did a good job on Kevin Durant and held him to just 2-8 shooting in the first half.

Byron Mullens, C 34 MIN | 6-16 FG | 0-0 FT | 4 REB | 2 AST | 16 PTS | -11

He’s taking A TON of threes, but he’s also knocking down 43.8% of them so far this preseason. Still needs to get better on the glass and defensively- effort is better on the defensive end, but Byron still getting out of position and not seeing the basketball regularly.

Ramon Sessions, G 34 MIN | 8-16 FG | 2-3 FT | 4 REB | 7 AST | 18 PTS | -23

Solid performance on the offensive end and very efficient. Sessions can do a little bit of everything on the floor and clearly has one of the highest basketball IQ’s of anyone on this roster.

Gerald Henderson, G 30 MIN | 5-10 FG | 2-2 FT | 2 REB | 3 AST | 12 PTS | -17

Would have liked to see him be a little more assertive on the offensive end, but let’s hope these are Hendo’s bad kind of night’s this season.

Tyrus Thomas, F 12 MIN | 3-4 FG | 2-2 FT | 1 REB | 0 AST | 8 PTS | -8

Only played 12 min, but when he was in Tyrus played with energy, played within himself and was surprisingly efficient.

Reggie Williams, G 18 MIN | 0-4 FG | 0-0 FT | 2 REB | 1 AST | 0 PTS | 0

0-7 from the field so far this preseason.

Ben Gordon, G 25 MIN | 7-15 FG | 4-4 FT | 0 REB | 4 AST | 21 PTS | +1

Solid performance offensively. We’ve only seen three preseason games, but it would seem that Gordon is the leader in the clubhouse to carry this team in the scoring department this season. Great weapon for Dunlap to bring off the bench.

Two Things We Saw

  1. Ben Gordon and Ramon Sessions have emerged as serious contributors to this team. Still can’t completely convince me that Kemba is going to get the nod at starting PG to start the season- he’s clearly been outplayed by Sessions so far. If Kemba is the starting PG opening night, he surely now has a shorter leash.
  2. Andy Rautins had 20 points for OKC- that’s a tad bit depressing.
